INSANITY the Asylum Speed and Agility Review

Insanity Speed and Agility ReviewI have always been “the weak guy”, in my opinion of course. All throughout most of high school, all of college, and a few years of my young adulthood, I wasn’t physically active. I was never “morbidly obese”, but there were days I sure felt like it! I started P90X in 2010 (more on that can be see by visiting “My Story“). But today, I do INSANITY the Asylum Speed and Agility. It is Day 15 and I am getting my butt beat with this workout! With my past struggles in physical activity, the learning curve on this program is much steeper. That doesn’t mean I’m not bringing it my all! If you are interested in doing the Asylum Speed and Agility, this is my official review on it! I’ll also include a video below with my progress, even though you will see I’m not the best (but hell, I’m trying!). I can guarantee that with consistent action and keeping on top of this Asylum workout, I will get those AMAZING six pack abs that I’m after in 2013. So, here we go, for my official INSANITY Speed and Agility Review – from the weak guy’s perspective!

INSANITY the Asylum – Speed and Agility Review – the Warm-Up!

The tools you will need for this workout are the agility ladder and the jump rope. I did not use the jump rope in my workout because of two reasons. First, I’m very tall (6′ 7″) and secondly, I don’t have enough clearance in my garage. I do however highly recommend using the jump rope (it comes with the program). With the jump rope you can excel and get better results!!

Before I begin with my warm-up review, are you interested in joining me on this INSANITY Asylum Journey? You can get the program right here, and it comes with a free bonus DVD from the Asylum Vol. 2: Pure Contact! Click here to order Asylum!

Warm-Up Series

Jump-Rope – Take it easy here. I have found that you get so pumped up to do the workout you wear out with this move alone! You start with high knees and a jump rope. This one is featured in my video. My knees aren’t all of the way up (or not as high as I want), but it will get better!

Squat Jump Ropes – with this move you stand shoulder width apart, and go into a semi squat while jump roping! Good workout for your quads IF you get your butt down enough 🙂

In & Out Low Jumps – same type of deal as the squat jumps, although this one is bringing your legs in, and then out into shoulder width.

Agility Heisman – do you remember the Heisman workouts in INSANITY? If not, check out some info from my INSANITY journey. With the Asylum, we now take the agility ladder and do the Heisman! I have this in my video below as well.

~Quick Water Break~

Round 2 of Warm-Up. This time its higher speed with no breaks in between the moves. You do the High Speed High Knees move that you started with in the beginning. Then, Criss-Cross your feet with the jump rope. You then do the 1-2 Scissors move with the jump rope, and then you get to put that rope down! Next is another round of the Agility Heisman, only this time you do it with a tap in between (as you’ll see in my video below).

You finish up the warm-up with the agility toe taps. This is in plank position as you put your feet into each box of the agility ladder. Check out my video below for my demonstration of this move.

WHEW the warm-up is now over! Can you believe it?? If anyone asks “Can I lose weight with the INSANITY warm-up series?” I’d have to agree and say YES YOU CAN. By the end of the warm-up I’m sweating as if I’ve been in the gym for over 2 hours.

INSANITY the Asylum – Speed and Agility Review – Stretching & Cool-Down

I want to take a moment and put a little rant in here about how important stretching and cool-down is for you. Trust me, I HATED doing the stretching and cool-downs. In fact, I would often skip these (bad move!). Stretching and cool down moves help strengthen and cure your muscles so you can reduce injury and improve overall base strength. This is why YOGA is so important. I know, I know…we all hate Yoga. Especially P90X Yoga, right? But, as much as I hate to admit it too, it strengthens your muscles deeper than just a quick muscle building workout does. It establishes your framework and muscle structure. So, get on it and stretch and cool down!

INSANITY the Asylum – Speed and Agility Video Review

The point of me sharing this is that I hope to inspire those who may be on the fence about doing a hard workout. If you put your mind to it, you will succeed! Sure, I don’t look like an athletic superstar, but I’m trying! As hard as it is, the success lies within the daily, consistent action (this is such an important success lesson I’ve learned as a Beachbody Coach). So, keep trying and good things will happen!

Once I finish the Asylum, I’ll put up a comparison video to see my progress. Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel and my Blog – I’d love to connect with you!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and checking out my review on Speed and Agility! It can only get better from here guys!!
