INSANITY Review – Week 2 Begins!

INSANITY ReviewINSANITY Review of Cardio Power & Resistance! Today I entered into Week 2 of INSANITY and set two major goals that I will tell you all about in just a moment. I feel much better after today’s workout. If you ever took a moment to see the INSANITY infomercial, you may recall them saying things like “hardest workout ever put on DVD” and “Test you both physically and mentally”. I have to say that both are true. I’m a bit shocked though. Why? Because after doing P90X and P90X2 over the last year and a half, I really feel like I never worked out before when I do the INSANITY workouts. Yes, it’s only the start of week 2; however, all I have to say is WOW!!

I never was good at cardiovascular exercise anyway. The mile run was a success for me in High School if I completed it in 10 minutes. I would get out of breath faster than a 90-year old. So, this could be the program that gets me into cardiovascular shape like I’ve never experienced before. We’ll see after day 60!!

INSANITY Review – Week 2 Goals

So I have two major goals that I set for this week. I not only want to keep these goals achievable for this week, but keep them going for the rest of my INSANITY journey. Here are my two major goals:

EAT MORE – I have said it many times to my clients, team members, and coaches: “You need to eat more to see better results”. But I must admit that I struggle with finding enough good food to eat good (actually more or less it has to do with the limited time I have available to eat on some days!). So many people get into the false perception that you need to eat less to lose weight. That is true in some cases, but when you do a program that will make you look AMAZING, you need to eat more calories. My target is 2700 calories per day. Some times I meet that goal, some days I go over it, but most days I’m under that goal. What does that do? It means my metabolism slows down as a result of hunger!!! If I’m going to get that lean, amazing body, I need to fuel it to do amazing things!! I hope to report in next week’s post that I’m keeping this goal high on the radar!!

DIG DEEPER  – Shaun T always says “dig deeper”, but I fight with the mental block. When I started off this post, I mentioned the quote from the infomercial that says “Test you both physically and mentally”. I’m definitely tested physically as evident by my loss of breath and pool of sweat. But mentally, I’m dropping the ball. There is something inside of my mind that keeps stopping me from pushing all the way through on the moves. “What if I get hurt”, “What if I throw-up”, “I can’t do this stupid workout”. Sound like you? Don’t worry, we all go through it!! But this is a major goal because I need to get PAST that mental block.

How do you get past the fitness mental block? I use two things: My WHY (see my blog post on defining your why), and My Desire to SUCCEED! I remind myself that I CAN actually do this, and I won’t get hurt if I listen closely to what Shaun T says. Sometimes I find myself pushing myself too hard in the beginning, that I run out of gas when I need to be digging deeper. Today I focused on starting off slow and following the people in the DVD to a T. This worked out great, because I could dig deeper and jump higher when the moves increased the intensity.

The proof is in this picture – check out this light-gray shirt that turned dark-gray with sweat. Sure, I was tired, but I felt AMAZING!!!
