Insanity the Asylum Relief Review!

Today during the INSANITY the Asylum Relief Review, I’m going to talk about stretching. Don’t forget to check out my other INSANITY Asylum Reviews. But for today, it’s all about the thing we sometimes neglect. We shouldn’t. But we do. Let’s be honest! So many people skip the stretching. Whether it’s your relief day, or it’s a warm-up or cool-down. I was once one of those who avoided the relief and stretches at all costs. Just a waste of time was my mindset. Or, “eh, it’s just relief, yoga, stretching, I can skip today”. BOY was I wrong.

Why?

Because it focuses on foundation. Especially Yoga. When it comes down to the core, we often think about abs (those 6-pack abs of course). The most important discovery that I have made, that is backed by many fitness professionals (including the Team Beachbody message boards): is balance = abs. Your ab muscles are a part of the core, which focuses in on balance. The ability to hold your balance, stand on one foot, etc. all comes from the core. Relief, Yoga, and Regular Stretching can help this idea of improving your overall physique that you are after. Not getting results? Don’t skip these important days!

INSANITY the Asylum Relief Review

This workout is pretty good. Not the best in my opinion, but not the worst. I’d have to give it to P90X X-Stretch and P90X2 Recovery & Mobility as my favorite relief workouts. This workout goes a little bit like this:

  • Wide Leg Breathing – you see this a lot in the other INSANITY Asylum workouts. But this is always nice to get some breathing, which in turn brings oxygen to the muscles.
  • Left/Right Side Stretch
  • Ceiling Push-Up
  • Prisoner Handcuffs
  • Iso Plié Squats
  • Standing Pikes
  • Pendulum Swings
  • Ankle Grabs
  • Ankle Lunge
  • Arrows
  • Swan Dive
  • Wide Leg Breathing (again)
  • Shoulder Stretch
  • Arm Rolls
  • Spine Rolls
  • Runners Hip Flexor Stretch
  • Sprinters Stretch
  • Runners Hip Flexor with Ankle Grab
  • Childs Pose
  • Cat Pose
  • Downward Dog
  • Wide Leg Spine Rolls
  • Standing Elbow splits
  • Flamingo stretch
  • Swing breathing rows
  • Standing Breathing
  • Finally Done! lol

I’d have to say that I like the hip flexor stretch. Also, I am starting to feel my elasticity improve. For example: when we are stretching the hamstrings, I’m getting to a point where I can reach the floor with my legs straight – that is good for a 6 foot 7 inch dude!

So have you done relief? Do you tend to skip them from time to time? Comment below and let me know.
