P90X Chest Shoulders and Triceps – Review

p90x chest shoulders and tricepsGet ready, P90X Chest Shoulders and Triceps is a workout that will have no mercy and give your upper body a challenge. I know that Tony calls Plyometrics and Chest & Back the “Mother of all X Workouts”, but I’d challenge that and say this one is the MOTHER for me!

In this moves you will experience moves that you probably only laughed or dreamed about doing. Things like Clap Push-Ups, Weighted Arm Circles, and (drum roll please): ONE ARM PUSH-UPS!!!

Don’t worry my friend, the one arm push-ups aren’t as scary as you might think. In fact, there is a way to modify them (along with these other moves) that I explain in my YouTube video below.

For now, let’s chat a bit about the P90X Chest Shoulders and Triceps review and check out these crazy moves.

P90X Chest Shoulders and Triceps – Some of the Crazy Moves You Will Encounter

I think by now you start to realize how P90X will shape up your life. Unfortunately I have seen a lot of people slow down and quit during this phase (when Chest Shoulders & Triceps are introduced). I think it’s mainly because these workouts are TOLLING on your body. They are what the “MUSCLE CONFUSION” of P90X is all about.

I will suggest that this is the time to really zero-in on your nutrition. If you aren’t eating well, and not taking the right supplements, you will end up having a hard (almost failing) time at Phase 2 of P90X. The minimum supplements that I suggest are Shakeology and P90X Results and Recovery Formula.

So here are some of the Crazy Moves You Will Encounter. Be sure to check out the video at the bottom for a few tips on how to overcome some of the struggles you may (or may not) encounter.

  • Slow Motion 3-in-1 Push-Up – You will start with wide push-ups, then standard, then military push-ups. The killer is going down for a 4-count and then back up for 4-count. This is the very first move you will encounter, so as you can imagine, it puts you to the test right out of the box!
  • Scarecrow – You will see this move at the end of the YouTube video I have below. You honestly do not need a lot of weight to make this move effective. I use about 8 pounds on this move, sometimes 15 if I feel amazing. I don’t believe anyone on the video uses over 15 pounds, even Crazy Phil. So don’t worry if you are only using 2.5-5 pounds.
  • Weighted Circles – another Insane move in my opinion. We all love the arm circles that you enjoy in some of the P90X Warm-Ups (including the P90X Chest Shoulders and Triceps warm-up), but this time you have weights in your hands. I usually start off with 8 pound weights, and the go down to 5 pound weights when I’m burned out. As you’ll hear about in the video below, never stop until the timer stops you in P90X!
  • One-Arm Push-Ups – you know I can’t get away without adding this one into my “Crazy Moves” of P90X Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps. This move is probably one of the scariest when you hear it. One ARM!?! Ahhhh. Because this is near the end of the workout, it usually gives me quite a challenge when it comes to muscling this one up appropriately. Regardless, the goal is to “DO YOUR BEST, and Forget the Rest!”
