P90X2 Plyocide Day 43 – Flexing the Heart Rate!

Keeping my heart rate up during P90X2 Plyocide – the benefits!

P90X2 is moving right along! I can’t believe I’m already on day 43!! Today was P90X2 Plyocide (see my original Plyocide post here). My focus was keeping my heart rate high! Why would you do such a crazy thing, Bob!?!?!? Because that is a good way to get results and live a healthy life 🙂

heart rateI was looking at an article recently on NPR about revving up your heart rate, even a bit, paying off. There was a study done recently that women who gave the slightest bit of effort (perhaps walking around the block each day as an example) showed greater health than those who didn’t get their heart rate up and lived a sedentary lifestyle. The benefits included reducing the risk of heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, and pulmonary disease!

Not only is exercise with a higher heart rate good for that, it helps with your brain as well. When you exercise regularly with an increase heart rate, your body naturally increases blood flow to the prefrontal cortex. The result? Better moods, better attitude, better health, better life! Why wouldn’t we want that!?!?!?

What was my maximum heart rate for P90X2 Plyocide?

P90X2 PlyocideI used a heart rate monitor to track my progress with P90X2 Plyocide. You can get a great heart rate monitor for only $59.85 by checking out this link. I was crusing through most of P90X2 Plyocide at around 160 beats-per-minute (BPM). My maximum heart rate was…….get ready…..181 beats per minute!!! WOW!

Now don’t worry (especially if my mom is ready this….lol :-)), 181 BPM is fine for a guy like me. In fact, it is within the area of what is called the “threshold range” for target heart rate (164-183). If you go under the “Get Fit” menu of Team Beachbody and choose “Fitness Tools”, you can calculate your heart rate targets. If you don’t already have a free Team Beachbody account, get one by clicking here.

So how did I keep my heart rate pumping during P90X2 Plyocide? I pushed through every move. I went into the workout with the mindset that I was going to OWN every move (and thank’s to the E&E preworkout formula I was able to accomplish this mindset!). I decided to keep up with Tony and the rest of the crew as close as possible (I’ll be honest, I tend to stop too soon, or not always keep up with the crew….and I’m working on that problem!). This meant a lot of pausing, stopping, and catching my breath. But what did that result in? Higher heart rate, accomplishment of every move in full, and some excellent health benefits. Don’t be ashamed if you have to stop, pause, and take a quick break during your workout program. No matter what you’re doing (Power 90, Slim in 6, Insanity), breaks and pauses are needed as you progress. Keep pressing play, and you’ll find that in time what used to be a hard, impossible, PAINFUL move is now not so bad!!

I really like Plyocide! Is it harder than P90X Plyometrics? I think so, yes! At first it seems easy, but that is because you don’t really know the moves. Once you understand how all the moves flow in Plyocide, it becomes intense. Just keep pushing play SharpeFit.com Community!

I’ll see you all around here soon! Please get the word out to your friends by Sharing my page on your Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or LinkedIn pages!
