Can I Do P90X?

can I do p90xI stand up and applaud those who are asking the question, Can I Do P90X? After all, if you’ve ever seen an infomercial or a preview of the P90X workout program, it can seem pretty intimidating. Many of the people I have the opportunity to talk with each day connect with me and ask if they are able to do P90X.

To speak bluntly, and to better answer the question of “Can I Do P90X?”, if you are Weak, Unable to do Push-Ups/Pull-Ups, Fat/Obese, or Scared, It’s OK. The answer to your question will be answered right here.

Can I Do P90X – Where Most People Fail

Where P90X becomes a struggle (see: struggling with P90X) is when people immediately start comparing themselves to others results, or the people on the P90X DVDs. The key to success is making sure that you take the time to focus on YOU. Do not compare your beginnings to someone else’s middle or end. I had a very hard time with this in the beginning, and started to really get frustrated with my success.

So, if you can come into P90X knowing that you won’t match each move perfectly like the people on the DVD, and you won’t be ripped and sexy overnight, you have an amazing shot at success!

Another tip is to get in the mindset that you will need to modify. You can get some great modification tips and help from my Fitness Success Course so that you are set up for success. When I first started P90X in 2010, I modified a LOT, including pull-ups, push-ups, and everything in between. Speaking on experience, I was someone who never exercised a day in my life, and wasn’t the most active in sports/etc in High School. So, flash forward to my first round of P90X, I had no choice but to modify. Don’t let it get you down, because each stride you make gets you closer to where you want to be, and in time you will surprise yourself.

Can I Do P90X if I’m Fat?

I get this question a lot. We all have our own version on what is “fat”. Someone who is 50-70 pounds overweight, and someone who is 100-400 pounds overweight. No matter where you fall on the spectrum, I will confidently, and with experience, say YES! You can Do P90X!

The key to success if you are obese or overweight is knowing that you probably will have to do more than one round of P90X. A round of P90X is a full 90 days of the program. Some people complete 2-3 rounds on average (total of 180-270 days) to get the desired, ripped results that you see on our success stories.

Does that seem like  a lot of time? If it does, I want to challenge you with this idea: What if you just keep thinking about it? If you don’t take the time to get in, get busy, and take action with P90X, you’ll be in the same spot 90, 180, and 270 days from now.

But Bob – What about the P90X Fit Test?

If you have seen in your research that all people should do the P90X Fit Test, you are absolutely right! The Fit Test comes with the program and gauges your ability to do P90X. If you’d like, check out my P90X Fit Test guide and try it for yourself. If you don’t meet the minimum expectations to feel good with P90X, I suggest starting with the P90X Predecessor, Power 90. It is a similar program, same trainer (Tony Horton) and gives you a better approach to crushing your weight before attacking P90X.

What I want to share with you is a great story of someone who was severely overweight. If you think you are too fat to do P90X, check out Jeremy’s story below. Jeremy is an amazing guy who never gave up, and you’ll see what his persistence did to him. Did he originally ask, Can I Do P90X? Sure, but guess what? He decided to go for it! I hope this motivates all of you who might still be on the fence.
