How to Manage Acid Reflux with Shakeology

how-to-manage-acid-refluxA few years ago I reached the epic peak of my Acid Reflux syndromes. I had that terrible indigestion feeling and was burping all of the time. Even worse, I felt like I had to throw up 24/7. Then, when I got real hungry, it was hard to eat because of these issues. For those who struggle with Acid Reflux, you’ll know what I mean. I started constantly searching for ways on how to manage acid reflux and only found short-term solutions. Things like taking the OTC drug Prilosec was one of them. While this was fine, I wanted something that would help for the long-run! I finally found something that I will share with you in my post today, after sharing a bit of my story of Acid Reflux.

My personal story and my quest on How to Manage Acid Reflux

My struggle with Acid Reflux started around 1998. Yes, that long ago. I must be honest and say that I think the reason it initially started was my poor dieting. I was drinking TONS of Soda. I would have to say at least 5-8 cans of soda per day. My favorites were Pepsi and Surge. Believe it or not, Surge doesn’t even exist anymore. But either way, I loved that stuff. These were back in the day when age was on my side, and I thought I could drink anything and eat anything. It was also of course, before I would ever think of launching into my career of Fitness, Health, and Nutrition with SharpeFIT. My #1 meal when we would go out would be a Bacon Cheeseburger with Fries, a Coke (or Pepsi), and a nice dessert. Sometimes the dessert would be a chocolate mousse, or a nice big chocolate fudge (with peanut butter) sundae. Sound yummy? Well, sure it’s yummy. But these are the evils that end up killing us from the inside! But I had years to go before my “indigestion” and “strange burping” would become the full blown acid reflux. Acid Reflux is also known as GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease).

According to PubMed Health, GERD (Acid Reflux) is “condition in which the stomach contents (food or liquid) leak backwards from the stomach into the esophagus (the tube from the mouth to the stomach). This action can irritate the esophagus, causing heartburn and other symptoms.”

The peak of my Acid Reflux started in 2007-2009. It was insane. I could barely eat! I would sit there, be hungry, but at the same time have this sensation of throwing up. This was the most uncomfortable, and downright frustrating feeling in the world. Either way, I needed to find out how to manage acid reflux fast! Then, at Christmas I was finished with this issue. The OTC drugs and doctor recommendations were short-term “OK” fixes, but I wanted this Acid Reflux issue GONE. I started P90X that next year, but knew it was going to be a struggle with my acid reflux. It was at that point I discovered something called Shakeology.

My Quest on How to Manage Acid Reflux continues when discovering Shakeology

The Shakeology discovery was based on P90X (workout program). It is made by the same company, and is focused on health and nutrition. It has over 70 healthy ingredients and 23 vitamins and minerals. As you will see in the video below, my main issue behind my struggles with Acid Reflux was my nutrition. I could give up pizza, give up fast food, but still have acid reflux. Why? Because I wasn’t getting the right nutrition! I was a bit concerned with trying Shakeology due to the price, but I eventually had no other option. Don’t get me wrong, I could have tried any protein shake. But, I was drawn to Shakeology because of it’s overall good healthy ingredients and superfoods.

My Results with Shakeology – How to Manage Acid Reflux

As I mentioned in the video, I have stopped my Acid Reflux! No more issues with feeling like I had to throw up, having heart burn, having indigestion, or any of the other GERD/Acid Reflux symptoms. WOO-HOO! Thanks to Shakeology I also reduced my overall poor eating decisions. But, now I can enjoy a beer, a pizza, and other foods without that horrible acidy feeling.
